Thanks to a wonderful grant of $20,478 awarded to Safe Haven Equine Rescue by Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, Safe Haven was able to purchase a rescue boat and motor, dry suits, life vests and other needed equipment to be prepared to respond during natural disasters such as Hurricane Florence.
Grant allocations are made possible thanks to the overwhelming support of Firehouse Subs restaurants and generous donors. Each Firehouse Subs restaurant recycles leftover, five-gallon pickle buckets, available to guests for a $2 donation to the Foundation. Donation canisters on register counters collect spare change, while the Round Up Program allows guests to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar. The Foundation is also the beneficiary of a Charitable Sales Promotion where Firehouse of America (FOA) will donate to the Foundation a sum equivalent to 0.13% of all gross sales with a minimum donation of $1MM through December 31, 2018.
Over the last several years, members of the Safe Haven Emergency Rescue Team have trained to help animals caught in natural disasters. Now thanks to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, Safe Haven Equine Rescue has the equipment to make these rescues a success.
During the devastating flooding in North Carolina, Safe Haven Equine Rescue was honored to be included by Code 3 Associates as part of their response team to Hurricane Florence. Other partnering organizations were Rescue Ranch, American Humane, and Humane Society of Missouri. These organizations from around the United States came together with one goal in mind – rescuing the animals.
Who did this grant help save during this disaster response? Pictures are worth a thousand words:
