Another Safe Haven goal is to make a positive difference for young people by getting them involved, and teaching them the basic care of horses. Teaching strong values, responsibility and self-confidence is the best way for making the local community a better place. We strive to provide positive activities and experiences for our youth so that negative activities are not so tempting and attractive. We accomplish this through school education programs, and ranch activities involving youth groups such as the Girl and Boy Scouts of America, FFA, and court referred youth.
Opportunities
If you love animals and are looking for a way to serve your community, Safe Haven has many opportunities that will enable you to do both. Volunteers can work hands -on with the horses, grooming, cleaning stalls and paddocks and helping at feeding time, as well as gardening, carpentry, welding and helping us keep our ranch vehicles in good operating condition. For those who prefer something less hands-on there are many tasks that are important to the administrative side of the sanctuary such as event planning, answering phones, writing grants or putting together educational materials.
