What can you do to help Safe Haven?

According to Richard Fincher, Executive Director, we need "Everything" especially more stalls for the sick, under nourished horses arriving weekly. Richard insists that the new arrivals be protected from the elements. Barns aren't free and Safe Haven is run completely by community donations.

"We need materials, supplies, and volunteer labor," Fincher says. "And that's not to mention more foster homes, lots of community support, and (as soon as possible) more land. We want the community involved," Safe Haven works side by side with local law enforcement agencies who are wonderfully supportive, but we need everybody concerned about animal welfare and wanting to make a difference in the equine industry.

You CAN make a difference.

Be a hero! Ordinary people under extraordinary circumstances have become heroes. Most of us will never be placed into that situation. But we can be the hero in the life of a horse by showing compassion and taking on the responsiblities of those who cannot or will not do so. One way is to sponsor one of our many special residents. Sponsorship means you acknowledge your role in helping these regal animals experience, some for the first time, peace, safety and kindness. Sponsorship will ensure the safety of our wards and invest in a future of understanding and trust between horse and man. The word Equus loosely translated means "Equal Us". The horse is our equal, our partner, and not meant to be subservient to man. Safe Haven board members and barn friends are dedicated to being the heroes in the lives of many Northeast Texas horses. You, too, can be a hero in the life of one of God's most magnificient creations...the horse.

How? By joining our Adopt-a-Horse Project, enroll as a monthly sponsor and provide the support necessary to supply one of our residents with feed, housing and veterinary care. The number of horses we can care for is always dependent on our funding sponsors. Your support literally saves a life.
