Safe Haven Equine Rescue was established in 2000 from a dream of founder Ruth Meadows. Since its establishment, Safe Haven has rescued hundreds of horses. In 2006 Ruth retired as executive director. Her successor, Richard Fincher, and a new board has taken over the organization. Learn more about Richard, his plans, and Safe Haven board members on the "About Us" page of this web site.

Our non-profit organization is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and sanctuary of neglected, abused, or retired horses and to providing a safe haven or loving adoption for these majestic animals.

We need help in many ways. Volunteers are the key to any successful organization such as ours. Without them, we would have to close the doors forever. As you can imagine, we also need help in many areas that do not require horse experience.

Junior

Junior is a 2 year gelding. He is continuely changing color. During the winter he appeared black, now this spring he is a beautiful grey with black mane and tail. This man is very smart. With proper ground work and training he should make someone a very nice companion.
